Khadi is a fabric that is homespun & hand woven from cotton, silk or wool.  It is 100 % natural eco-friendly. No chemicals are used in the manufacturing of these exquisite garments. The cotton is grown without chemical fertilizers. It has a beautiful history.

Mahatma Gandhi began promoting the spinning of Khadi for rural self-employment and self-reliance in the 1920’s. It was to bring unity also.  India thus has been making Khadi an integral part and icon of the ‘Swadeshi movement’ (Independence Movement). The handspun threads provide employment to millions of men and women in rural India.

There is no pollution while manufacturing this cloth or any toxic waste products. The fabric also uses natural organic eco-friendly dyes. It has a very rustic feel infused with a modern sensibility that is easy to manage and maintain, thus making it a hit with many leading designers.

Khadi will hold it’s own in the fashion scene of today. Our Goal is to make it a part of everyone’s wardrobe. We want all ages of consumers to discover the beauty of this fabric and support it as it not only looks stylish but also is eco-friendly. We want to bring out the true potential that Khadi has to offer.  It has a fascinating history and future. It truly is the fabric of tomorrow as it supports the views of this century.

Khadi keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  It can take up different looks. The more you wash it the better it looks. It is a way of life. It represents independence. The material is starched therefore it does not crumple easily. It is very easy to maintain and looks chic. All strata of society can wear it. There is a huge range from very economical as well as expensive silk products. Modern day fashion Khadi garments falls well. The fabric breathes and has a self-texture. It can be blended with denim, wool polyester and silk. Well known Indian Designers incorporate Khadi in their latest fashions.

Khadi is a fabric that is woven and handspun from cotton, silk or wool. First the farmers pick the cotton and remove the seeds. This is rolled into Slivers. The method is known as Ginning. The Slivers are spun into yarn on a spinning wheel called a Charkha.

This hand spinning wheel the Charkha is a symbol of the Indian Freedom Movement.  The paddle foot operated loom and traditional handloom used in weaving of Khadi interlaces the threads in a manner that allows maximum air to permeate into the body and soothes the body better then any fabric out there. The threads are then manufactured and hand-woven into cloth.
